These Terms of Service apply to quotes, purchases, custom rugs, Editions, samples, commissions, and related services provided by MAJLIS Editions. By approving a quote, submitting payment, or placing an order, the client agrees to these terms and any additional written terms included in the MAJLIS-approved quote.
MAJLIS reviews the submitted design, size, shape, room notes, and shipping location before issuing an approved quote. Standard designs may be approved instantly. Custom or bespoke requests are usually reviewed within one business day, though complex projects may require additional time.
Approved orders begin with a 50% deposit. The remaining balance, shipping, duties, taxes, and any approved adjustments are confirmed before release or delivery. Payment links may include or reference these Terms of Service.
MAJLIS rugs are custom and made to order. Each order is produced according to the approved quote, design code, size, shape, colors, pile, and written confirmation. Minor handmade variations in color, texture, scale, and finish may occur.
Because each rug is made to order, all purchases are final sale. MAJLIS does not offer returns or exchanges for approved custom or made-to-order rugs.
If an order is canceled after payment, the deposit is retained. If cancellation is requested after production has begun, additional costs may apply depending on the stage of production and commitments already made.
Shipping within the contiguous United States is generally estimated at 10% of the rug price, but final shipping may vary by size, destination, timing, service level, and project requirements. International, express, or oversized shipments may be higher and will be communicated in the MAJLIS-approved quote.
Orders may ship from Brazil, Italy, Nepal, or India. Most orders ship by air freight, though some orders may ship by cargo ship. The shipping method and expected timing are communicated during the purchasing process whenever available.
Any applicable customs duties, import fees, taxes, brokerage charges, or destination-specific costs are the responsibility of the client unless otherwise stated in writing by MAJLIS.
Color and texture may be confirmed with poms, material samples, or a strike-off when needed. Digital previews are helpful for design communication but may not perfectly represent physical color, pile, sheen, or texture.
MAJLIS does not currently offer a return policy. We are developing a future buyback or recycling path for clients who wish to responsibly recycle MAJLIS Editions rugs.

MAJLIS is a design studio based in New York beginning with customizable Hand-tufted ECONYL® rugs. Our goal is to expand into collectible objects, materials, and collaborations that we call “Editions”.
MAJLIS begins with rugs because rugs establish proportion, tone, comfort, and visual structure before the rest of a room is complete.
Our designs are meant to be interchangeable and complement the style of our clients. As interior designers and artists ourselves, we want to produce and provide the best in both quality and design.
7 / Why ECONYL®?
MAJLIS works with Hand-tufted ECONYL® because a rug is not only an object of color, proportion, and texture. It is also a material decision. ECONYL® gives our studio a regenerated nylon foundation with the durability, color clarity, clean shaping, and repeatable production needed for custom rugs.
The material begins with nylon waste such as fishing nets, old carpets, fabric scraps, and industrial plastic. That waste is cleaned, separated, chemically regenerated, and returned to high-performance nylon yarn before it ever becomes part of a MAJLIS rug.

MAJLIS Editions gives the studio room to release rugs as collectible design objects as well as practical room foundations. Some Editions may be developed internally, while others may come through artists, makers, architects, brands, and workshops.
For designers, architects, and private clients who need a rug made for a specific room, palette, or idea. Bring us a sketch, reference, finish sample, floor plan, or simply the atmosphere you want to create; we translate it into a Hand-tufted ECONYL® rug with the right proportion, surface direction, and material integrity.

MAJLIS is designed by interior designers for interior designers. We wanted to help smoothen the practical rhythm of interior design work: early room studies, client presentations, material review, saved options, trade follow-up, and production conversations that need to stay organized. Through the MAJLIS Build tool, we offer a quick and finite way to present custom designs to your client.
Use the Build tool to show scale, shape, color direction, and surface choices while a room is still being developed.
Save rug directions by client, room, or project so options can be revisited without rebuilding from scratch.
Request samples that correspond to specific collections, colors, pile directions, and premium accent ideas.

Beyond the first rug chapter
Rugs are the first product category, but the MAJLIS team is continuously looking to expand the world through additional categories such as ceramics, lighting, furniture, wall coverings, decorative objects, and artist collaborations.
Customizable Hand-tufted ECONYL® rugs remain the first working system inside MAJLIS Editions.
Future releases may include ceramics, lighting, furniture, wall coverings, and decorative objects.
Some pieces may be developed by MAJLIS; others may come through artists, makers, workshops, brands, and selected collaborators. If you are interested in collaboration, please let us know.

Yes. Final color and texture can be confirmed with rug poms, material samples, or a strike-off before production when needed. Strike-offs are an additional service that can be applied to the rug cost.
Yes. ECONYL® is already water resistant, but an extra layer of protection can be added as an extra service charge. It adds two weeks to production and is especially important for high-traffic areas, hospitality settings, and homes where the rug will work harder.
Yes and no. MAJLIS currently focuses on solid-color fields, tonal material depth, high-low pile, carved detail, and limited hand-sewn accents. Some digital previews may show silk-like surface variation, but ombré production is not currently available outside of the MAJLIS Bespoke service.
Not at this time. MAJLIS rugs are currently developed without fringe or tassel details.
Yes. Limited hand-sewn accent details, such as dots or speckling, may be possible as premium add-ons. These details may affect pricing and production time.
With MAJLIS Bespoke, we can offer hand-knotted ECONYL® rugs made in Nepal, India, or Italy. We can also offer design elements such as marble or metal inlays as well as tassels and fringe made of ECONYL®. For those wanting more of a traditional feel, with the addition of ECONYL®'s durability, we suggest MAJLIS Bespoke.
Wool remains a beautiful traditional rug fiber. MAJLIS chose ECONYL® because our system depends on custom sizing, precise shapes, color consistency, clean edges, repeatable production, and a regenerated material story that feels right for contemporary interiors.
Yes. The recovered material is not turned directly into a rug. Nylon waste is sorted, cleaned, separated from other matter, prepared for regeneration, and remade into yarn before it becomes part of a MAJLIS rug.
Polyester is often selected for economy rather than long-term luxury performance. Virgin nylon is resilient, but it starts with new material. ECONYL® keeps the performance advantages associated with nylon while using recovered nylon waste as the material source.
MAJLIS currently centers on Hand-tufted ECONYL®, selected for its refined surface, soft hand, and future-facing material story.
No. MAJLIS Build is especially useful for designers. It is intended to help with client presentations, saved options, project folders, sample requests, and quote preparation.
Vacuum regularly so dry soil stays at the surface. For spills, blot immediately with a clean white cloth, work from the outside toward the center, avoid aggressive brushing, and let the rug dry fully before use. For deeper cleaning, hire a professional rug cleaner.
MAJLIS rugs are custom and made to order, so purchases are final sale. Review the Terms of Service before approving production. We are developing a future buyback path for clients who want to submit their MAJLIS rugs back into the regenerative system of ECONYL®.
