Terms of Sale

How buying a MAJLIS rug works.

These terms explain how orders, pricing, production, shipping, and after-sale support work for our custom, made-to-order rugs and our pre-orders. They apply to clients, interior designers, design firms, trade partners, and wholesale buyers.

Last updated: October 6, 2026

01Scope and acceptance

These Terms of Sale govern the purchase of rugs and related products from MAJLIS Editions ("MAJLIS," "we," "us"). By submitting a design for review, requesting a quote, or confirming an order, you agree to these terms. They work together with our MAJLIS Warranty. If you are purchasing on behalf of a company, studio, or firm, you confirm you are authorized to do so.

02Custom, made-to-order products

MAJLIS rugs are designed and authenticated in New York and hand-loomed in India by skilled craftspeople in safe workplaces, in New Zealand wool or ECONYL® regenerated nylon. Custom and bespoke rugs are made to your specification after the design has been reviewed and approved, rather than pulled from stock. Because every custom piece is produced for a specific room and brief, the order process includes a review step before production begins, and the made-to-order nature of the product affects changes, cancellations, and returns as described below.

03Pre-orders

This section applies to Common Ground pre-orders of Intense and Thick. Where it differs from the other sections of these terms, this section applies.

Construction. Pre-order rugs are hand-loomed in India in New Zealand wool or ECONYL® regenerated nylon, with a 14 mm pile. You select the series, colorway, size and material offered on the product page. These rugs are made together in a production run; the individual custom-design approval process in sections 02 and 06 does not apply.

Deposit and balance. A 50% deposit is payable at checkout, including 50% of any applicable sales tax. The remaining 50% is due when the pre-order window closes at 11:59 pm Eastern time on January 1, 2027. We will send payment instructions for the balance; it will not be charged automatically. Your order confirmation shows the total price, deposit paid and remaining balance. Shipping within the continental United States and import duties are included; section 10 does not apply to these pre-orders.

Pricing and discounts. Thick prices are calculated at 20% above the corresponding Intense price for the same size and material, then rounded up to the next price ending in $95. The final price is shown before you pay. Trade, designer, architect, partner and other account discounts do not apply to pre-orders. Pre-order prices cannot be combined with other offers.

Cancellations and deposit refunds. All pre-order deposits are fully refundable if we receive your cancellation request by 11:59 pm Eastern time on December 20, 2026. Reply to your receipt or email hello@majliseditions.com with your order reference. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. After December 20, deposits are non-refundable and pre-orders are final sale for change of mind, including orders placed after that date. This does not limit the defect, delay, non-delivery or other legal protections described below.

Colorway production minimums. If your selected colorway does not reach its production minimum when the order window closes, we will contact you. You may choose another available colorway in the same series and material, or receive a full refund of all amounts paid for the affected rug.

Allocations and delivery. Each series has a limited allocation and may close before January 1, 2027 if fully reserved. Delivery is expected in early summer 2027. We will keep you informed as your rug is made and shipped. If we cannot ship within the promised timeframe, we will notify you of the delay, provide a revised shipment date and offer the choice of accepting the delay or cancelling for a full refund. If we cannot fulfill your order, we will refund all amounts paid for the unfulfilled rug.

04Quotes and pricing

Estimates shown in the MAJLIS Studio are provided as a guide only and are not a final price. Final pricing is confirmed by MAJLIS after we review the complete specification, including surface, size, shape, pile height, edges, colors, and any custom details. Prices are quoted in United States dollars and exclude taxes, duties, and shipping unless stated otherwise on your quote.

A quote is valid for the period stated on it. Pricing may change for new quotes, and any quote becomes an order only once it is confirmed by both you and MAJLIS.

05Trade and wholesale

List pricing is shown on the site. Approved accounts receive a discount off list pricing based on account type. Trade, designer and architect accounts receive 20% off list pricing. Partner accounts receive 30% off list pricing. To activate your discount, create an account and provide the requested business details. There are no order minimums. Larger project pricing is arranged directly with our team. Your discount applies once your account is approved and may not be combined with other offers unless we agree otherwise in writing. Account discounts do not apply to pre-orders (section 03).

06Placing an order and approval

To place a custom order, submit your design through the Studio or with our team and request a quote. We confirm the specification with you before production. Your order is accepted, and these terms become binding for that order, when MAJLIS confirms the final specification and the order is placed. Please review every detail at this stage, since production follows your approved specification. Pre-orders are placed and accepted at checkout, as described in section 03.

07Payment

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, payment is due when an order is confirmed, and production begins after payment is received. For trade and project orders, payment arrangements are set out on your quote or order confirmation. Production timelines start from the later of order confirmation and receipt of any payment due.

08Production and lead time

For custom and bespoke orders, the expected lead time is stated on your quote and confirmed with your order, and runs from final approval and receipt of any payment due. Lead times are estimates and can vary with size, complexity, order volume, and destination. We will let you know if a timeline is expected to differ materially from your quote. Pre-order delivery is described in section 03.

09Shipping and delivery

We ship by parcel carrier or freight directly to your home or project. For orders outside the United States and Europe, shipment may be made to the nearest port, after which onward delivery, clearance, and any related charges are the buyer's responsibility. Delivery dates are estimates. Import duties, taxes, and customs fees, where they apply, are the buyer's responsibility unless your quote states otherwise.

Please inspect your rug on delivery and report any visible transit damage to us promptly, with photographs, so we can help resolve it.

10Import duties, tariffs and governmental charges

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, prices exclude customs duties, tariffs, taxes and other governmental import charges (“Import Charges”). The Buyer is responsible for all Import Charges, including changes occurring after a quotation is issued or an order is accepted.

Any Import Charge shown is an estimate. MAJLIS Editions may collect an estimated reserve and suspend production, shipment or delivery until payment is received. Once assessed, any shortfall is payable before delivery and any overpayment will be credited or refunded.

Import Charges are pass-through expenses, are not subject to discounts and may be allocated among multiple Products or orders using a commercially reasonable method without disclosing confidential supplier information.

New or increased Import Charges do not permit cancellation once production has begun. Before production, if estimated Import Charges exceed ten percent of the Product price, the Buyer may cancel within three business days of notice, less any costs already incurred.

The Buyer remains responsible for later customs assessments. Any refund received by MAJLIS Editions will be passed proportionately to the Buyer, less reasonable recovery costs.

11Samples

We recommend requesting physical samples before production to confirm color and texture, especially when matching an active room or a hospitality or trade brief. Samples are representative of our materials and finishes. Because rugs are handcrafted, slight variation between a sample and a finished rug is normal and is not considered a defect.

12Changes and cancellations

For Common Ground pre-orders, the cancellation and refund rules in section 03 apply. Contact us promptly if you would like to change a colorway, size or material; changes depend on availability and may change the price.

For custom and bespoke orders, tell us as soon as possible if you need a change or cancellation. Before production, we will review your request and confirm any costs or changes to timing. Once production begins, changes and cancellations may not be possible, and completed work may be chargeable as stated in your agreed quote or order confirmation.

13Returns

Pre-orders. You may cancel for a full refund of your deposit through December 20, 2026 as described in section 03. After that deadline, pre-orders are final sale for change of mind. We do not accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges of delivered pre-order rugs.

Custom and bespoke rugs. These rugs are made to your approved specification and cannot be returned or exchanged for change of mind.

Defects, damage or an incorrect order. If your rug arrives damaged, differs from your confirmed order or appears to have a manufacturing defect, email hello@majliseditions.com with your order reference, a description and photographs. Report visible transit damage promptly. Manufacturing defects are covered for one year from delivery under our Warranty. Contact us before sending a rug back so we can provide return instructions and arrange an appropriate remedy.

Final-sale and no-return provisions do not limit your rights for shipping delays, non-delivery, defective goods or any other rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

14Warranty

Intense, Thick, and custom and bespoke rugs in New Zealand wool or ECONYL® regenerated nylon are covered against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for one year from delivery. Report suspected defects within that period with your order reference and photographs. For a covered defect, MAJLIS will repair or replace the rug, or provide another appropriate remedy at no cost to you, subject to applicable law. The full coverage, exclusions and claim process are set out in our Warranty.

15Care

MAJLIS rugs are made in New Zealand wool or ECONYL® regenerated nylon and built for daily use. Following our care guidance helps your rug last and keeps it within warranty coverage. If you are unsure how to clean or maintain your rug, reach out and we will advise.

16Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MAJLIS is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the sale or use of our products. Our total liability for any order is limited to the amount paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your rights as a consumer.

17Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. We aim to resolve any concern directly and in good faith, so please contact us first and we will work toward a fair outcome.

18Contact

Questions about these terms or your order are always welcome.
